Deborah Strauss is a Klezmer Violinist, Accordionist, & Dancer.

Deborah Strauss is an internationally acclaimed Klezmer artist, accomplished in the violin, accordion, Yiddish dancing, and singing. She studied violin at Rutgers University, ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago, and is a true musical descendent of the most eloquent traditional Jewish violinists.
Deborah has been at the forefront of the Klezmer and Yiddish music scene for over 30 years and is among the finest of the contemporary klezmer instrumentalists.
Among her accomplishments, she has appeared on numerous recordings, was a long-time member of the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble as well as the Klezmer Conservatory Band, and forms half of the Strauss/Warschauer Duo. Deborah has performed with the Grammy Award-winning Klezmatics. She has appeared on numerous recordings, was featured in the Emmy Award-winning film, Itzhak Perlman: In the Fiddlers House, and appears in the film, Theodore Bikel: In the Shoes of Sholom Aleichem. Deborah has performed and taught across North America and throughout Western and Eastern Europe, Australia, and Israel.
A much-loved teacher of Yiddish music and dance to students of all ages, she leads workshops and classes annually at the Jewish Culture Festival in Krakow, Yiddish Summer Weimar, Yiddish New York, and KlezKanada.
