Violinists' Contest in Koszalin. In 1988-1990 he benefited from the Polish Ministry of Culture and Arts scholarship and studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Apart from the classical violin repertoire, Artur Banaszkiewicz very often performs his own virtuoso fantasias and renderings of some famous and very much liked pieces from various realms of music.
"The Gypsies Enchanting Evening" is a concert show especially popular with Polish and international audiences. It comprises the pieces inspired by the Gypsy folklore on one hand, and the Jewish musical tradition on the other. The concept of the show has attracted a lot of media attention which brought a number of appearances in TV and radio shows. It has also resulted in a number of high-profile appearances in some of the most prestigious concert halls (including New York's Lincoln Center and the Congress Hall in Warsaw, Berliner Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus), and co-operation with some of the most notable personalities of the Polish music scene (with M. Moś, K. Baran, V. Brodski, W. Malicki, among others).
Having received an enthusiastic appreciation from the audiences throughout the world, it was a natural stage in Artur Banaszkiewicz’s musical development to make his attempts as a composer. They have resulted in the composition and the world premieres of: “Midnight Voices” (Chopin Quartet, world premiere in The Szafarnia Chopin Centre in 2011), Violin concerto (world premiere with a composer as a solist in Poznań Waga in 2013), Concerto 21'81" for accordion, string instruments and percussion (Klaudiusz Baran and Capella Thoruniensis - world premiere in a chamber version at the Accordion Festival, Kotlin 2015). The culmination of the composer activity by Artur Banaszkiewicz is his recording “Arabesque Overnight”.
